My Kiva Fellowship
If you don’t already know, starting in October, I will volunteer as a Kiva Fellow in the rural Cusco region of Peru for 6 months, working directly with Asociación Arariwa, one of Kiva’s partner microfinance institutions. Microloans improve the standard of living for business owners, their families and their communities. Women in developing countries are big recipients of microfinance and Kiva’s work.
Join me for a Going Away BBQ to support my work with Kiva to help Peruvian microentreprenuers!
Saturday, September 12th
3 PM onwards
Casa Shobowale
311 Cumberland Street
Brooklyn, NY 11238
Please bring friends and family and rather than contributing liquor or food, please bring a small donation (for what you might have spent on food or booze).
Supporting both local Fort Greene and Peruvian entrepreneurs, we’ll raffle off prizes such as
- bike tune up from Bespoke Bicycles, a local bike shop
- dinner for two at Deniz, a yummy Turkish restaurant
- dinner for two at iCi, seasonal menus from locally-sourced ingredients in a brownstone parlor
- $50 gift certificate from Aqualis Grill, a Mediterranean spot specializing in fish
- 1 hour tennis lesson by master pro Kiran Rao
- 2 Orientation Packages from Manhattan Plaza Health Club Climbing Gym
- a bottle of Peruvian Pisco
- The Blue Sweater by Jacqueline Novagratz, founder of The Acumen Fund
- and more to be announced at the party…
Enter the raffle for a chance to win some great treats!
- BBQ by Grillmaster Tokumbo
- REAL Pisco Sours by Mixologist Sheethal
- RED VELVET CUPCAKES donated by CakeMan Raven (Come early for those – they’ll go quick!)
